About Me

I have a tendency to say I’m not very exciting, but then again, you wouldn’t be here if you didn’t want to know at least something small about me.

I am very simple to describe though, three things define my life; this blog revolves around two of them, and the third will be making an appearance as it usually does in every aspect of my life.

1. Food
2. Travel
3. Birds

I love to eat.

Food as always been a big part of my life. I’ve always had a palette for foreign flavours, and since leaving the nest, I’ve been getting more adventurous with experimenting. Admittedly, my Celiac diagnosis has done a lot to further this pursuit, as I’ve had to find more creative ways to satisfy my appetite.

Travel is the second most passion close to my heart. I am fortunate with my job I can take multiple vacations on short notice, and I use that to the fullest extent I can by travelling wherever the airline deals seem to push me.

So far I’ve been to….

• France
• Spain
• Morocco
• Australia
• Hong Kong
• Macau
• China
• South Korea
• Japan

….along with multiple places in Canada and the USA. Currently I have a trip to Great Britain and the Netherlands in the works, along with hopefully heading to Germany in Spring next year.

I love to eat when I travel. I love to eat things that are a true flavour of the area I’m visting, like having snake in China, octopus in Japan, and kangaroo, crocodile, and emu while in Australia. I do my very utmost best to be 100% gluten free while travelling abroad.
And now, the thing that is more important to me than anything else (and I have to mention them somewhere in this blog!) is my flock. Yes, I count my boyfriend in that too!

I share my home with four parrots, and a stubborn German.

Jazz Megatron, a male Blue Headed Pionus, and supposed "flock leader". He likes to strut around and act like the boss, although he's a big softy and generally just gives in to any of the other birds. He's been with me the longest of the four, and I spoil him something rotten. He likes to gnosh on fruit and veggies with Mom, and is partial to Raspberries, Broccoli, and Sweet Potatoes.

Princess Lillith, a female Cockatiel. The only lady of the group, she pretty much has all the other birds (and us) wrapped around her little talon. She is not incredibly fond of people, but didn't have a great start in life, and is making great strides with us. She has one hell of an attitude, and we like to think she just keeps it up for appearances.

Fry, our male Black Headed Caique. He is technically the youngest bird of the flock, and is the craziest, hyperactive kamakaze animal I've ever seen in my life. If anyone is a gourmet in the house, me included, it would probably be Fry, who will literally eat anything if given the chance. Even though he prefers people company over bird company, he has forged an unlikely bond with Lillith, although she would never admit it.

Pipsqueak Eggbert, known around here as Pip, our male Parrotlet. Last, but certainly not least, Pip is The Boss and is hell bent on letting everyone know. Even at a diminutive 25 grams, he will take on Jazz (who is 10 times his size) without a second thought, is in love with Lillith, and doesn't want crap to do with Fry. He might even rival Lillith in attitude, except he only shows it towards the birds. He's rather still nervous around people (he went an entire year without being removed from his tiny cage before finding his way to us) but he now steps up like a champ and will hopefully accept scritches from us someday.
